Graduated from Woodward High School in 1984. He then attended Oklahoma State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1988. Mr. Smithton also played football for the Cowboys from 1984-1987, earning 3 varsity letters and was a member of the 1984 and 1985 Gator Bowl Teams and the 1987 Sun Bowl Team. He is admitted to the Oklahoma Bar and Oklahoma's Western Federal District Court.
W. Shane Smithton was born in 1966 in Laverne, Oklahoma, where his parents were involved in farming and ranching. The family moved to Woodward when Shane was 3 years old but Shane worked on the Harper County farm each summer until he graduated from high school.
Upon graduating from law school and passing the Oklahoma Bar Exam, Mr. Smithton practiced law in Oklahoma City for four years focusing primarily on commercial transactions and commercial litigation. In 1995, Mr. Smithton moved his family “back home” to Woodward. Since returning to Woodward, Mr. Smithton has litigated cases involving auto accidents and other personal injuries, medical mal-practice, products liability, oil and gas, contracts, estate planning, probate, as well as other general civil and commercial litigation. Mr. Smithton has been involved in the formation of numerous corporations and limited liability companies and has experience in the sale of such entities. Mr. Smithton also has vast experience in real estate transactions, financing and title examination.
Mr. Smithton is an active member of the Oklahoma Association of Justice, an association that is dedicated to the preservation of the legal rights of Oklahomans. Mr. Smithton is dedicated to providing the best legal representation possible for his clients.
